Signed on the back with the classic green bow for "Nevers" and the inscription Montignon, J.M.
Square dish with double handles of original shape on the sides.
Decorated in blue camaieu of a bird on a branch, surrounded by flowers.
Dish made between 1937 and 1978, in 1937, Jean Montagnon succeeded his father as head of the earthenware factory which he ran for forty-one years. He modernised the factory with the use of the electric kiln, extended the range of enamels and created a few pieces in the art deco style. He trained painters, five of whom would become the best workers in France.
