Advice

The objects and small furniture of the Palais des bricoles are old and show more or less pronounced wear over time. Most of the time, these are small defects that also make the charm of all these objects that pass through generations.
Nevertheless, you can give them a new lease of life simply with a little maintenance.

Here are some little tips from grandmother that we'll pass on to you!

All the items that the Palais des bricoles offers you require a good cleaning before use, especially clothes and food items.

For metals we recommend the use of specific products that are often very effective. We also offer some advice with more natural and ancestral methods!

For the silverware:

If you are in a hurry, the Starwax brand offers quality and efficient products.
If you are a fan of the "all-natural" or "homemade", baking soda is ideal to bring your objects back to life! In a bowl, mix baking soda with hot but not hot water. Using a soft-bristled toothbrush, gently brush the mixture on the object and rinse well. The same with the lemon! Soak, apply and rinse with water.

For the bronze, brass and copper:

We always recommend cleaning bronze, brass and copper objects once with a suitable product. Starwax is effective to restore color! Otherwise, try ammonia for example so that they regain their full brilliance.

For the Rust:

Small punctures on the metal can be easily removed with triple zero steel wool and a little water. For larger traces spray WD40 and then repeat the operation with steel wool.
For the "natural" version, in a container, mix a spoonful of bicarbonate and one spoonful of vinegar. Apply the solution to the rust for about 15 minutes. Finally, rinse with a damp sponge.
Soak your rusty objects in a white vinegar solution and rub the rusty parts to remove stains.

For the steel blade knives:

We always recommend cleaning the blades with triple-zero steel wool to remove stains.
The horn handles are simply maintained with oil to restore their shine and prevent them from drying out.

For the fashion and the laundry:

All our linen is almost always in excellent condition! We give precise details if there are any wear and tear or stains, but be aware that they are always only minor defects.
However, we recommend that you clean the garment or linen before wearing it or before using it for household linen.
To launder laundry, sodium bicarbonate is fabulous!

Our items are classified according to their condition in 3 categories:
***= Excellent condition
**= Good condition but with minor minor defects
*= Average condition

Even in the Middle State, we believe that these are objects that still retain their charm or interest!

The units of measurement we use for our products are in cm:
 ht = height
 L = width
 Lg = length
 P = depth
 D = diameter
