Svenskt Tenn, a design company based in Stockholm was founded in 1924 by Estrid Ericson. Inspired by the English Arts & Crafts movement, Ericson wanted to develop modern pewter objects, which were quite trendy in Sweden. In 1925, Svenskt Tenn received a gold medal at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris.
Ericson multiplied partnerships with designers of great reputation, notably around 1934 with the Austrian designer architect Josef Frank.
